On December 26, 1865, the Belgian-Dutch Permanent Commission for the Supervision of Scheldt Navigation gave the order to erect a lighthouse near Breskens, on the sea wall near the Nieuwe Sluis. This happened and on January 19, 1868 the light on that lighthouse was turned on for the first time. This lighthouse was mainly intended to mark the Wielingen. Together with another lighthouse, the so-called Low Light of Nieuwe Sluis, it formed a white guiding light. This Low Light now stands monumentally on the Spuiplein in Breskens. Actual image is 61 x 47 cm. Edition number may differ from that of the photo. Will be shipped insured in a sturdy cardboard tube.
