August Legras ((Amsterdam 1864 - Laren 1915)
Self-taught and drew a lot in Artis at a young age. In 1899 he moved to Hilversum to live in the same house as Evert Pieters. In 1905 Legras founded the artists' association 'De Tien'. These included Toon de Jong, Co Breman and David Schulman. Animals and Oriental landscapes are among his best works.
