We provide a guarantee covering:
Artpeers applies a guarantee scheme that all sellers have to adhere to. If a work that you have purchased does not match the auction description, you can invoke this guarantee within 3 weeks of receiving your purchase.
Please note: please consider that the guarantee only covers the issues listed below, unless demonstrably agreed otherwise.
The condition of the object must be as stated in the auction description. Many of the artworks and design objects on Artpeers belong to the secondary art market. This implies that small imperfections such as signs of use cannot always be described and are part of the ‘course of life’ of the object. If a work is NOT in good condition, this should be clearly stated in the auction description, if possible supported by a photo. If no signs of damage are mentioned, the buyer should be able to assume that the work is in good condition.
Please note: if the seller has included in the auction description that he cannot guarantee the authenticity of the work, this guarantee does not apply.
The authenticity of the artwork has to be correct. If it turns out that a work has not been made by the artist stated in the auction description (error or forgery), the buyer can invoke the guarantee. This also applies if a work has been created by the indicated artist, but it is a reproduction of the original work and this fact is not stated in the auction description. If there is any suspicion that a work may not be authentic, this has to be supported by an expert’s statement on the work purchased.
Please note: If the seller has included in the auction description that he cannot guarantee the authenticity of the work, this guarantee does not apply.
Transport is at the seller’s risk. If the seller ships the work by post or if it is being delivered by a courier on the seller’s instructions, the seller is responsible for this transport. If damage occurs during transport, the buyer can invoke the guarantee. In this case, the buyer must provide the seller with pictures of the damage to the work and to the packaging, so that the seller can claim this damage from the shipping company if desired. The above does not apply if the buyer has asked a transporter to collect the item on his behalf.
Please note: please consider that the guarantee only covers the issues listed above, unless demonstrably agreed otherwise.
If one wishes to invoke the guarantee scheme, the following rules apply:
Naturally we hope that it will not come to a dispute, but should a difference of opinion arise between the seller and the buyer, we advise you to bring the situation to the attention of Artpeers. Artpeers will then take a decision that the buyer and the seller must abide by, otherwise they will be excluded from participating in the auctions at Artpeers. If a seller, after payment and at request of the buyer, does not refund the purchase price, this seller will be excluded from participating in auctions at Artpeers and the buyer can – under certain conditions – make use of our purchase protection insurance.
If a seller, after payment and on request of the buyer, does not refund the purchase price, the seller will be excluded from participating in auctions at Artpeers and the buyer can invoke the purchase protection insurance. The following conditions apply:
Artpeers will then reimburse the purchase price up to € 500. Moreover, the seller will be excluded from trading on Artpeers.
In case of a dispute regarding the authenticity or condition of the work, the purchase protection insurance does not apply, unless there is a clear case of fraud or deliberate misrepresentation.
