Berbers

The Berbers or Amazighs is the collective name for a number of related indigenous peoples in North Africa, especially in modern-day Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, in the Egyptian oases of Siwa and Gara, in Mauritania and in Mali.[8][2 ] The Berbers had lived in the area for thousands of years before the 11th century conquest by the Arabs of the Banu Hilal. The original inhabitants of the Canary Islands, the Guanches, are also sometimes considered Berbers.
