Bert KIEWIT (Amsterdam 1918 - Mantinge 2008)
Kiewiet grew up in Leeuwarden. Only after his forties did he take a drawing and sculpture training in the evenings and became an artist by profession. Kiewiet taught in Amsterdam until 1976, in that year he moved to Drenthe. Bronze statues of him can be found in many places in Drenthe, which often have to do with everyday life, such as the Bridge Turner in Annerveenschekanaal, the Boer with milk cans in Nijeveen and the Groundworker in Linde.
