Gerard FIERET
Photographer, Draftsman, Poet
Born in 1924 in The Hague, Died on January 22, 2009 in The Hague
Education: Drawing training, Royal Academy in The Hague Lived and worked in The Hague
Gerard Fieret was an artist who spent most of his life in old chains. At the end of the fifties Gerard Fieret bought a camera, with which he started taking the wildest pictures. In his own words, he explained the ?kaleidoscopic totality of life? fixed. It didn't matter what came in front of the lens, everything was part of everyday life.
Archiving was not one of Gerard Fieret's favorite activities, so it is not clear how extensive his oeuvre is. He often kept photos and drawings in jerry cans or in old cupboards. Gerard Fieret was an artist who disliked rules and customs. He lived his life the way he wanted to.
