Jan Harm Weijns (1864-1945)

Jan Harm Weijns was born on December 6, 1864 in Zwolle. After a solid training in drawing and painting, he became a drawing teacher in Enschede. Because of his talent he got an appointment in 1892 at the Drawing Academy in Rotterdam. From 1910 he could live off his artistic work and he gave up teaching. Until his death in 1945 he was a gifted painter of landscapes, cityscapes, still lifes and portraits. His work can be found in the Boymans-Van Beuningen Museum, the Haags Gemeentemuseum, the Dordrechts Museum and Rijksmuseum Twente.
