Jan van Rijsewijk (1954)

Jan van Rijsewijk (1954)

Graphic artist

Born in Dieren in 1954. Following in his father's footsteps as an artist, Jan van Rijsewijk Jr. has developed into an important etcher. He received lessons from his father and private lessons from Mrs. Mary Westring in Freeport USA), where he learned a special etching technique. In exchange for refurbishing her house and studio, he received lessons in design and technology. He has traversed the whole world, sailed the oceans and, in his youth, is a well-traveled man. The Netherlands has remained his home country after all. Inspired by what he saw here, he set himself the task of capturing the Netherlands in all its diversity in etchings.
