Jens QUISTGAARD (Copenhagen 1919 - Vordingborg 2008)
As the son of sculptor Herald Quistgaard, he was taught various techniques at a young age. He worked with textiles, ceramics, wood and for a period worked for silversmith Georg Jensen. After the Second World War he started working as an independent designer and in 1954 he set up the company Dansk International Designs together with an American colleague. From 1984 he worked in a studio in Copenhagen. Quistgaard's designs can be recognized by their subtle, organic shapes. He often based his works on old techniques from, for example, the Vikings or Japanese art.
