Louis ARMSTRONG (1901 New Orleans - 1971 New York)
Louis Daniel Armstrong (August 4, 1901 – July 6, 1971) was an American jazz trumpeter, singer, actor, and entertainer. His nickname was Satchmo or Satch, short for Satchelmouth. He was also known as Dippermouth, like Satchmo a reference to his big mouth. He was usually addressed by friends and colleagues as Pops, a name he himself used for others (with the exception of Pops Foster, whom he invariably called George).
Although his career started in the 1920s, even current generations still know him from songs such as What a Wonderful World, Hello Dolly and It Takes Two to Tango, which he performed with his characteristic, raw voice.
