Riccardo BENVENUTI (Lucca 1939 - Lucca 2018)
Riccardo Benvenuti studied at the Istituto Passaglia in Lucca and began his career as a painter in 1958 with a solo exhibition at the 'Circolo Ufficiali' in his hometown. In the 1970s he became known for his portraits of women, whom he depicted as beautiful, seductive, elegant and somewhat mysterious.
In 1974, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini, he organized, at the request of the Puccini Foundation, exhibitions at the Lincoln Center Metropolitan in New York, as well as in Chicago and Madrid. Benvenuti collaborated with Salvador Dalí in the creation of the 'Medaglia dell'Augurio', which was later minted by the Gold Market of Milan. In addition, he designed posters for various sporting events, including the World Boxing Championships, the World Football Championships, the Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the Giro d'Italia.
From 1980 he carried out alterations and murals in the church of Santa Rita in Margine Coperta, near Montecatini Terme. In the early nineties he collaborated with the publisher Einaudi for illustrations in the book 'Genco il Pirata' by Vincenzo Pardini. T
Between 2003 and 2004 he was commissioned by Costa Crociere to create large panels to decorate the cruise ships Costa Fortuna and Costa Magica. In 2004 he was chosen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to represent Italy at the European Football Championship in Portugal.
