Sjef van der VOORT (Oirschot 1914 - Helmond 1990)
Sjef was the eldest son and first child of the house painter Cornelis Gijsbertus (Cor) van der Voort and Johanna van Horik (1886-1946) and came to live in Deurne when he was six years old. He married Maria Cornelia (Mies) Luijben (Helmond January 8, 1920 - August 23, 2002), daughter of Johannes Godefridus Luijben (1888-1961) and Maria Cornelia Marechal (1887-1965). He studied at the Art Academy in Brussels and stayed 3 .5 years in Paris where he fell under the influence of Impressionism. He lived and worked in Helmond, among other places. He made pencil drawings, watercolors, etchings, paintings, murals and stained glass windows and he was also an advertising designer.
