Founded in 1926 - dissolved in 1996
De Brug was founded after the example of the association 'Die Brücke', which was founded earlier in Germany. The aim was to introduce the New Objectivity in painting, a belief that came to dominate art after the First World War. The aim of the New Objectivity was to make art more at the service of social consciousness. Due to the lack of interest, De Brug was eventually closed.
