Founded in 1898 - dissolved in 1907
Le Labeur emerged in response to the policy of the official salons in Brussels, which excluded modernists from their exhibitions. The association was founded by a group of artists who came from the group La Patte de Dindon. Le Labeur annually organized major exhibitions for its members. The members were very varied, and La Labeur did not have a clear program. The group was not only accessible to painters, but also to sculptors and musicians. The works of Le Labeur's painters were traditional in the beginning, but became progressively more progressive over time. The Brabant Fauvists have their origins in this association.
