Founded in 1895 - dissolved in 1938
The art association Voor de Kunst was founded out of dissatisfaction with the conservative policy of the Utrecht association Kunstliefde. The founders of Voor de Kunst wanted to introduce the new arts to the Utrecht public, including the emerging arts and crafts. In order to maintain a good relationship with Kunstliefde, a member was invited to take a seat on the board. Applied arts was one of the most important art forms in which the association was involved, but Voor de Kunst also represented other forms of visual art. Voor de Kunst was an art association, no distinction was made between art lovers and artists for membership. In 1938, however, Voor de Kunst merged again with Kunstliefde.
