Information about the artist: Ans (Anna Maria) Wortel (Alkmaar, October 18, 1929 - Hilvarenbeek, December 4, 1996) was a Dutch visual artist, writer and poet. She mainly made gouaches and oil paintings, but also watercolors, drawings, collages, mixed media, lithographs, etchings, sculptures, glass sculptures and glass reliefs. She was self-taught. In Amsterdam in the 1960s she became known and had exhibitions in the Stedelijk Museum and in the Museum Van Bommel in Venlo.
