Bronzen beeld van de franse negentiende-eeuwse beeldhouwer Charles Cumberworth.
Te zien zijn de twee personages uit de bekende roman "Paul et Virginie" van Jacques Henri Bernardin de Saint-Pierre. Deze roman - een soort tropische Romeo en Julia - was een triomf aan het eind van de 18e en begin 19e eeuw en behandeld een aantal idealen uit de Verlichting.
In de opstaande rand aan de voorzijde staat de naam van de kunstenaar gegraveerd, en de naam van de bronsgieterij: The Susse Frères. Het bedrijf van de gebroeders Susse was ontzettend populair vanwege de productie van hoge kwaliteit gegoten bronzen en indrukwekkende patina's. Naast sculpturen maakten zij ook onderdelen voor exclusieve meubelen en klokken.
