"The Mastaba of Abu Dhabi" is the largest project world-renowned artist Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude have ever tackled.
The word mastaba means "bench made of stone" - mastabas were used as tombs in ancient Egypt.
Christo and Jeanne-Claude wanted to use some 400,000 oil barrels for their modern mastaba to build a monument that, with a base area of 225 x 300 meters and a height of 150 meters, would well exceed the dimensions of the Great Pyramid. .
"The Mastaba of Abu Dhabi" has been in preparation since 1977 - and the execution will continue to be sought after her death (according to his cousin on the occasion of the wrapping of the Arc de Triomphe "in the next 10 years").
