Painter and etcher who learned from the American William Sherwood how to print his etchings.
'Het Vogelkooitje III' drawn in pencil.
Baksteen also got to know the American William Sherwood through Smits. He showed Brick how to print his etchings. Soon Baksteen was nicknamed the Etcher van de Kempen and his work became known in Belgium and later also in Germany and the United States. He produced more than 300 etchings. Work by Baksteen can be found in the Jakob Smitsmuseum in Mol in Belgium.
