A series of postcards made up of 6 photographs. They are real photo postcards: machine-made serial prints on baryta paper. On the back is the imprint 'Fotografie Duane Michals, Paradise regained 1968' The postcards reflect the sequence of images from 1-6. The publisher is named: 'Foto + Film Centrum vzw Meir 50, B2000 Antwerpen'. The photo series is complete from 1-6, but has no envelope. In the first of the six photos in the “Paradise regained” sequence, a young man sits in a rigid upright position, his hands clasped, in a bright room. Behind him to the right is a young, dark-haired woman. There are various objects such as an ashtray, a white cup, a bust, an oriental-looking vessel, a metronome, a switched on lamp, filing cabinets, a vase, a picture frame, a surrealistic picture, an alarm clock (which shows 1:32 a.m.) in the Space distributed. In the following photos, more and more large plants suddenly appear with each picture and some of the objects disappear from the room. First the bust, the metronome, the vessel, the extinguished lamp, etc. until all objects seem to have dissolved. Little by little, the actor's clothes, and ultimately also those of the woman, fall until the plants have almost completely grown around the naked couple. The alarm clock in the background provides us with the time frame in which the apparent reflection on paradise takes place - in exactly 7 minutes. According to Michals, man shows himself in his "original state" in his true and original form: "When men get rid of the hip clothes and the furniture and are taken out of our air conditioned cars we are essentially like Rousseau's savages."
