Geert Jan Maring , born 26-12-1943 in Warffum (province of Groningen), sculptor, etcher and painter.
-Education: Academy Minerva Groningen (1960-1964).
Initially, Geert Maring concentrated entirely on the etching technique. He then worked with mixed techniques for a while and later switched to painting on panels and canvas.
His paintings are inspired by landscapes. The landscape is recognizable, but sometimes abstracted into geometric figures. “You could call his landscapes 'inner landscapes'. They are non-existent, but he does remember them from his travels. People are not encountered; the landscapes themselves function as a form of life”.
