  • Gerardus Leonardus Godefridus Maria (Gérard Leonard) van den Eerenbeemt (Venlo, 28 July 1936 – France, 15 January 2011) was a Dutch artist.

He was the son of commercial agent Henri Gerard Maria van den Eerenbeemt and Adriana Jacoba Josephina Maria Verhagen. From 1959 to 1977 he was married to children's author and illustrator Annemie Heijmans (1935-2008).[1][2]

He was educated at the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten (1956-1958). In 1959 and 1960 he was awarded the Royal Subsidy for free painting. In 1959 he had an exhibition at the Paris Biennale.

Van den Eerenbeemt worked in the fields of poetry, graphic arts, painting and sculpture. He often worked together. For example, he worked with Gerrit Kouwenaar on Without colors from 1962 and he designed the costumes for Peter Schat's opera Labyrinth (1965-1966).[3] The work Signs came to the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam to accompany the music of Ton Bruynel.

He was art gangs "Raam 75" and painting community "IJmuider Kring". He also supervised art projects in the library of Rotterdam and the District Court in Haarlem.

His poetry collections are titled Likzout/Zoethout (1977, Het Smalle Wed; an envelope with booklet with seven poems in an edition of 70 pieces) and Milk and manure (1984).[4] In Amsterdam, along the Heemstedestraat, his sculpture Golf with a compression spring can be found. He also published in De Gids.

He has taught at Ateliers 63 (Haarlem) and art academies in Amersfoort and Kampen. Part of his oeuvre was lost during the fire in 1988 in his studio in IJmuiden. A trip through India in 1992 inspired him to create a series of wax pigment paintings on paper entitled Indian letters. Since 1996 he has worked from his residence in France. He was cremated in Limoges.
