In 1971 Giovanni's daughter Carmen Clea is born. The beginning of Giovanni Vetere's artistic career is closely linked to this event. A year later, when his wife Brigitte gives her daughter a box of watercolors, Veteran animals begins to paint for his daughter. Giovanni's talent did not go unnoticed and in 1973 Vetere turned to art. At the end of 1973, the city of Troisdorf gave Vetere the opportunity to hold its first exhibition. In his search for essence, the human figure is central in his relationship to nature and society. Nature and its elements are represented by flower shapes, small birds and fish, which appear in simplified form as triangles and circles.
