The sources of inspiration for my work are ancient cultures such as Japanese and Egyptian. Japan: The mystical colorful geishas, like flowers with white faces, fairytale appearances in the Kaboeki theater are an important and poetic source of inspiration for me. In the past, Japan has seduced many European artists into beautiful works, for example the late passionate work of Van Gogh, inspired by Japanese color woodblock prints. Directly or indirectly, Redon, Ensor, Munch and Klimt, among others, were inspired by Japanese art. And they, and the scenes from the Kaboeki theater with the geishas as exotic birds, inspired me again.
