Beautiful original hand-colored etching/aquatint by the German landscape painter, etcher and draftsman Hans Böhme (1905-1982)
Born in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, he studied from 1924 to 1928 at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts with Ferdinand Dorsch and Max Feldbauer. In the winter semester of 1928 he moved to the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied with Angelo Jank.
After graduating, Böhme worked as a freelance painter in Rothenburg. In 1943, he received the Albrecht Dürer Prize from the city of Nuremberg. From 1937 to 1944, he was regularly represented with numerous works at the National Socialist propaganda shows "Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung" in the Haus der Deutschen Kunst in Munich. Some of his works from this period were purchased by Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels.
Many of his landscapes, cityscapes and portraits are connected with his birthplace Rothenburg.
