About the artist: Hans Marinus van Dokkum was born on 17 August 1908 in Rotterdam. From 1926 to 1930 he was educated at the National School for Drawing Teachers in Amsterdam. In 1935 he settled in Utecht with his wife Rie. He specializes in graphic techniques. He made many etchings, lithographs and linoleum cuts. He prints his work on his own presses, often in limited editions. His work can be found in the collections of the Rijksprentenkabinet, the Central Museum and the Utrecht Archives. The government also bought graphic work from him. He is a member of various painters' associations, such as Arti et Amicitae in Amsterdam, Genootschap Kunstliefde in Utrecht and AKG de Ploegh in Amersfoort.
