Helga Paris - Houses and Faces. Halle 1983–85

Paper quality: Multibroom, Manufacturer: Larry Lazarus, Hamburg The motif comes from an extensive series of photos that Helga Paris took in Halle in the mid-1980s. They were to be exhibited in the summer of 1986 in the Galerie Marktschlösschen Halle under the title "Houses and Faces. Halle 1983-85". The catalogue had already been printed when the publication of the book and, shortly afterwards, the opening of the exhibition that had already been hung were banned. It was only after the fall of the Wall, at the beginning of 1990, that the people of Halle were able to form their own opinion of the photographs that they had not been allowed to see four years previously.
