Life and work
Lampe studied environmental design at the Arnhem Academy. He has been working as an independent designer since 1976. In that year he showed his chair Stokkenzit at the fifth Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk and at the Ekster gallery in Leeuwarden. Lampe designs furniture, children's playgrounds and freestanding art objects.
An example of his work is the series of 'art play sculptures' that he made in 1991-1992 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Gasbedrijf Westergo. The sculptures are made up of the same elements, but differ from each other. They were placed in the nine municipalities in Friesland that are shareholders of the gas company.
