Lithograph of a rare painting by the famous Beat poet and artist Jack Micheline (1929-1998, New York - San Francisco, USA), good friends with Jack Kerouac, Charles Bukowski and Ken Kesey - with frame 45 x 36 x 1.5 cm - light folds visible on paper - signed with: Micheline '77 SF (San Francisco).
JACK MICHELINE was born in 1929 in New York. He devoted himself to poetry from the early 1950s. He identified mainly with the people at the bottom of society that he encountered in his life and his travels and lived for jazz, poetry and art. In 1957 he published his first book 'River of Red Wine', for which Jack Kerouac wrote the foreword. Micheline started painting seriously in 1960 when he moved to San Francisco, mainly with gouache, in a self-taught, original way. He was part of the famous Beat Generation, the rebellious and experimental wordsmiths like Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, Ken Kesey and William S. Burroughs who left a big mark on the 1950s and 1960s in the United States.
