He made watercolors in the 1920s, but from 1941 onwards, encouraged by his friends Clesse and Laudy, he started painting intensively with oil paint. His preference was for landscapes of the region of Sint-Anna-Pede, Grimbergen, but also Brittany, Normandy and the Loire region. Sometimes he also painted flowers and still lifes. Jacques Méchin was a member of the "L'effort" circle. He is listed in BAS III, Piron, Arto and Artprice.
