Alberdink Thijm College : originally a Roman Catholic secondary school in Hilversum.
the school received a positive stimulus in 1938 with the completion of a new school building -with chapel- at the same address. The building was designed by the architect Nico Andriessen, a contemporary and student of the famous architect Willem Dudok.

“The black tiled roof was made lighter, so that the cast shadow of the chimney stands out better. The adjacent buildings and trees were deleted, except for the tree on the right. This was placed on the roadway for compositional reasons. In reality, the school is located on a busy thoroughfare. The tower of the St. Vitus Church is visible in the background. The chosen angle shows the rhythm of the end faces of the roof”.

Josephus Hermannus ('Joost') Veerkamp (Diemen, May 6, 1953) is a Dutch illustrator, graphic artist and draftsman of the clear line.
Veerkamp studied graphics at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam (1972-1977).
Veerkamp is neither a cartoonist nor an illustrator, but a Hergé admirer, as evidenced by the many Tintin pastiches he made. Nevertheless, his lines have a personal character, with characteristic stylization in the details. His sleek style betrays his fascination for architecture; his use of color and compositions are indebted to Japanese prints. He used to achieve the light and atmosphere by coloring with the airbrush, nowadays he uses the computer. His drawings can be recognized by the varying shades.
He collaborated with a number of writers, including Gerrit Komrij, Hugo Claus, Rudy Kousbroek and FB Hotz. He also wrote and published his own books, of which Joost Veerkamp's Stamp Album is perhaps best known. He also worked for de Volkskrant, NRC Handelsblad and Vrij Nederland.
Nowadays he makes free work and carries out assignments. Veerkamp has its own publishing house called Editions Obscures, which produces its maps, prints and books and lives and works in Zoelen. His style, together with that of Joost Swarte, is called the Klare line.
Veerkamp performed work for De Arbeiderspers, Vrij Nederland, NRC Handelsblad, de Volkskrant, the municipality of Hilversum, Maatstaf, Propria Cures and De Amsterdamsche Boekenmarkt, among others.
