- As a Lilliputian, Jos was a striking figure in the Hague artists' world of the sixties. Jos was always called Josje by his friends from Posthoorn. Worked and lived in The Hague from 1944 and his studio was located at Sumatrastraat number 40.
Education: Free Academy in Paris, Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam (1919 -23) and the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague (1929 -35). Was a student of Joop Kropff, among others.
In 1964, a design by Josje appeared on a stamp from the PTT summer stamp series. (12+9 ct)

Received the Jacob Hartog Prize in 1956.
