Lars Bo (1924-1999) was a Danish artist and writer. He is known for his graphic works with surrealistically inspired fantastic motifs. He was nicknamed "Wizard". He attended the Danish Design School from 1941 to 1943, after which he traveled through Europe. From 1947 until his death in 1999 he lived in Paris. Bo began a long and successful career as an illustrated book artist in 1952. Until 1996 he created etchings and aquatints for many major illustrated books. Some of his greatest works in this field are for classic editions by Hans Christian Andersen.
