Lucien Lejeune - An evening walk - Sold

Intimistic painting by Lucien Lejeune, born in 1870 in Liège and died there in 1953. Lejeune was a painter, graphic artist and illustrator. He was trained at the end of the 19th century at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. There he met Rassenfosse and on his advice he moved to Paris (1893-1894) and completed his training at the School of Decorative Arts in Brussels (1896-1897). From 1902 to 1936 he taught drawing at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. He had exhibitions at the “Cercle royal des Beaux-Arts de Liège” from 1892 to 1942 and took part in several group exhibitions at the Museum and at the Palace of Fine Arts in Liège. His work is in the collections of the “Musée de l'Art Wallon (La Boverie)” and the “Musée de la Vie Wallonne”. The offered work on painter's cardboard is signed lower left and dated 95 (i.e. between his period in Paris and that in Brussels). On the back there is a label from a framer in Liège. The gold-painted frame is intact.
