Pier van Leest is a son of artist Niek van Leest (1930-2012). He was educated at the art academy in Breda and worked for some time at the Eijsbouts bell foundry in Asten and the Binder bronze statue foundry in Haarlem.[3] He has been an independent artist since 1980.
