Amsterdam canal with bridge and figures.

Pol Dom was born as Paulus Ludovicus Carolus Dom in Antwerp, where, after primary and secondary education, he
went to study at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1906 he took part in the Rome Prize competition for engraving and received an honorable mention (3rd prize).
Because of the more open art climate in the Netherlands, he settled in the Netherlands in 1909 for several years to participate in the First World War.
to settle permanently in The Hague.
Around 1920 his address was Koninginnelaan 51 in Rijswijk.
In 1948 he married Flora van Dam, the widow of Albert Louis Oger, in The Hague.
Dom was a versatile artist. He practiced painting and was a graphic artist, political cartoonist and portrait painter.
His style can be characterized as naturalistic.
