Information about the photographer:
Raymond Rutting (born December 16, 1962 in Utrecht) is a Dutch photojournalist.
He covered countless topics during his long career – from the fall of Romanian communism and the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq to international sporting events and much domestic news. Working for the General Dutch Press Agency (ANP) from 1989 to 2001, he followed the royal family for years.
He has been an independent photographer since 2013. He has been one of the regular news photographers for De Volkskrant for years and he makes travel reports about destinations worldwide for Traveler, National Geographic's travel magazine.
His photos have appeared in renowned newspapers and magazines such as The New York Times, Time, The Guardian, Stern and National Geographic.
He is an inspiring example for many young photographers and gives master classes and workshops at the Fotovakschool in Apeldoorn and at the Tripod Foundation.
His work received numerous prizes. Based on his oeuvre, he was named Photographer of the Year in 1997 and 2004 and won dozens of prizes in the Silver Camera competition. A year later he was decorated as Officer in the Order of Orange Nassau for his entire oeuvre.
