Theo Braun studied at the Academy of Arts and Crafts in Dresden from 1939 to 1941 and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1946 to 1950. Between 1949 and 1967, Braun was first an assistant and then a lecturer at the Vienna Technical University (now: TU Vienna). He lived in Brunn am gebirge until the end. In 1959 Theo Braun took part in documenta 2 in Kassel in the graphics department and in the Sao Paulo Biennale. In 1976 he received the Cultural Prize of the State of Lower Austria for visual arts.
