Vincent van OJEN (Someren 1960)
Graphic artist
With his rich and convincing use of colour, Vincent van Ojen took the use of colours in graphics out of the 'taboo sphere'. The use of colour in graphics has its own possibilities, which are not at all inferior to those of painting.
Technically, Van Ojen has achieved such skill with his woodcuts that it seems as if he can actually paint with color.
Vincent van Ojen likes to be inspired by themes such as nature, landscape and still life. He also occasionally works with interiors and human figures. Usually the subject is more or less recognizable, but in his abstractions often subordinated to the compositional structure.
Van Ojen has thrown the traditional angularity overboard in his woodcuts. By specializing in this technique, he brings out various previously unknown possibilities of woodcuts. With this he achieves special results.
Vincent van Ojen studied at the Art Academy in 's-Hertogenbosch.
