The painter Willem Frederik Noordijk initially lived and worked in Schiedam, The Hague and from 1919 in Laren and Eemnes. He traveled to France, Spain, England and Italy.
Noordijk was a student at the Academy v. BK in The Hague (1914 – 1917) under the guidance of Frits Jansen.
He paints, watercolours, draws (pen pastel) and etches landscapes, animals, figures and flowers in an impressionist style. Noordijk was a member of 'St. Lucas' in Amsterdam.

This painting is more refined than is usually expected from Noordijk and is strongly reminiscent of work by the Laren artist Johan Meijer.
