In and around Renkum Dankmeijer mainly painted landscapes, often using existing elements in nature that he composed according to his own insight. His work was very popular, in the Netherlands and abroad. On 08-03-1987 the Dagblad van Zuidholland en 's Gravenhage reports that the President of the United States has purchased a work by Charles Dankmeijer (see clipping), depicting a landscape in the Renkum area!
