Hand-signed and dated work from 1981 by Frisian painter and sculptor Sybren (Siep) van den Berg. It is a collage in constructivist style, inspired by the work of Piet Mondrian. Van den Berg attended the evening course in Drawing and Painting at the Minerva Academy in the city of Groningen, where he was taught by Jan Altink, among others. In 1937 Hendrik Werkman discovered his painting and encouraged him to continue with it. From 1939, Van den Berg rented the tea cupola in the Sterrebos in Groningen as a studio and devoted himself completely to artistry. In 1954 he moved to Amsterdam and had a studio there on the Brouwersgracht. His style developed from naturalism through impressionism and cubism to constructivism. Several of Van den Berg's sculptures can be seen in the public space.
